Lincoln Navigator
The Lincoln Navigator is a full-size luxury SUV built by the Ford Motor Company for its luxury division, Lincoln. Introduced as a 1998 model, production began May 14, 1997[1] with sales beginning in August. The Navigator was Lincoln's first SUV as well as its first four-wheel drive capable vehicle. The Navigator shares its platform, mechanical features, and other equipment with the Ford Expedition, which was introduced a year earlier. Unique and upscale styling, interior materials, and other features differ the Navigator from the Expedition.
Given its platform mate, the Navigator is the largest vehicle Lincoln currently offers, having the greatest cargo capacity and seating for seven to eight people, depending on the model. For 2007, a longer, extended wheelbase version of the Navigator called the Navigator L was introduced, increasing cargo capacity further. Since its introduction, Lincoln has offered only one engine choice at a time in the Navigator in any model year; all are variations of Ford's 5.4 L Modular V8.
In spite of a base manufacturer's suggested retail price of over $42,000 in 1998, the Navigator proved to be popular with nearly 44,000 sold in its first year. Competitors from General Motors like the Cadillac Escalade and the GMC Denali Series quickly followed to cash in on Lincoln's success with the Navigator. Much like the Cadillac Escalade would do, the Navigator found a niche with celebrities and the customized SUV scene.

Datsun 240Z Sports car
Sports coupe Datsun 240Z was born in 1969. The machine was intended for U.S. car market. The founder of the American branch of Yutaka Katayama convinced management of Nissan in need of such a model. Official presentation of the new two-seater sports car Datsun 240Z held in New York in October 1969. Originally, the car would be called Fairlady, but fearing that the name is not accepted in America, limited numbered – Datsun 240Z.The exterior design in Datsun 240Z has been very successful, he was executed in classical style and reminded «Jaguar E-Type.” Technical stuffing also commands respect. Independent suspension with struts “McPherson” and stabilizer bars, copied from the “Lotus-Elan, provide excellent car driving performance.
Datsun 240Z Straight six-cylinder engine with overhead camshaft with a working volume of 2,4 liters capacity developed 151 horsepower. Datsun 240Z Coupe weighing 1,068 pounds were dispersed to 208 km / h and stokilometrovuyu mark from the place reached in nine seconds. In 1974 he appeared four-seat coupe 2 +2 extended to thirty centimeters a body fitted with a 2.6 liter engine, this car received index 260Z. In 1976-77, the released version of Datsun 240Z with engine capacity of 2.8 liters. In 1978 appeared the last modification Datsun 240Z issued before 1983, with the new engine of 2.8 liter and automatic transmission. Datsun 240Z

The Datsun 240Z was one of the worldнs most groundbreaking sports cars. The 240Z wasn't the fastest, the most sophisticated or the most innovatively styled vehicle of its type. But what it did achieve was a combination of sports car driving characteristics, interior comfort and a level of affordability that the world's sport car market had never before seen. Like MGB had done in Britain in the 1960s, the Zed brought the thrill of sports car ownership to the masses in the 1970s.In the wake of World War II, Nissan Motor Company Limited concentrated on building relatively pedestrian vehicles for its home market; its export program was sporadic. The company knew it could continue building basic, cheap transportation, but to become really successful it needed to turn its attention to America с the most lucrative automotive market on Earth. Mr Yutaka Katayama was employed by Nissan Motor Company Limited in 1960 and was charged with marketing in North America. Convinced that the best way into the US market was to introduce a line of sports-oriented vehicles, Mr Katayama pushed along the development of the convertible Datsun Fairlady 1500. It is said that the Fairlady 1500 was merely a copy of contemporary British sportscar designs like the MGB. Designed by Hidehiro Iizuka, it was first displayed at the Eighth Tokyo Motor show in October 1961. The 1488cc 4 cylinder motor developed 77 bhp with a top speed of 94mph. The car was released in Australia in mid 1963 and sold in small quantities.australiaforeveryone.com.au
Chevrolet Chevelle SS 454
Nineteen sevnty was a watershed year in the history of the American muscle car. Most would agree that the muscle era hit its apogee in 1970, when too much performance was not enough and user friendliness was shoved aside by an antisocial attitude; vying for the top of the pops was Chevrolet's Chevelle SS 454. The SS 454 carried Chevy's intermediate performance banner, wrapping a lean, butch exterior around serious big-block horsepower and igniting a reverence that burns strong more than 30 years later.
With its ample and inexpensive parts supply, ease of restoration and classic all-American appeal, the 1970-1972 Chevelle SS 454 is the muscle car that nearly everyone with gasoline in their veins wants in their garage. Chevrolet had restyled their mid-size Chevelle lineup for 1970, taking a highly detailed car and simplifying it; the new car's squared-off C-pillar replaced the previous model's dramatically curved one, and subtly flared fenders and bobbed front and rear ends gave the new car a more menacing, serious look that was both contemporary and timeless. The Super Sport package, Chevelle's highest performance option, was again available in the hardtop Sport Coupe ($3,497) and convertible ($3,697) body styles. The 1970 SS carried a number of distinctive styling cues, including quad headlamps in squared bezels, a two-part grille separated by a body-colored bar, and rectangular taillamps set in a chrome bumper that carried black inserts.
A domed hood was also standard on the SS models, which included the previous top-dog SS 396 and the new boss, the SS 454. A special option package, known internally as Z15, cost $503.45 in 1970 and would transform a plain-Jane Malibu into the fabled SS 454. This package included a 454-cu.in., 360hp Turbo-Jet V-8 (known as the LS5) with chrome accents, a heavy-duty suspension, SS wheels, power front disc brakes, dual exhausts with chrome tips, wheel arch moldings, a black grille and a chrome rear bumper with black inserts. Various SS badges also adorned the car, inside and out. For the extremists for whom 360hp was not enough, or for those who wanted to taunt overconfident Hemi-powered Mopar drivers, the LS6 option, costing a mere $263.30, brought the ultimate 450hp V-8. Extra street cred could be bought with the $147.45 ZL2 option, a.k.a. the Cowl-Induction hood package; this sport-striped hood, which was secured with pins, had a vacuum-operated flap that ducted cold air to the carburetor when the accelerator was floored. According to contemporary sources, a 450hp LS6-equipped SS 454 could run 0-60 mph in 6.1 seconds and cover the quarter mile in 13.44 at 108 mph.
A number of detail changes helped usher the Chevelle SS 454 into the 1971 model year. Last year's optional hood pins were standardized, the grille was modified to lose its painted center stripe, and new front fender-mounted wraparound turn signals replaced those in the bumper. While the front swapped its twin round headlamps for singles, the rear traded its single taillamps for twin round replacements, mounted in a now all-chrome rear bumper. The 14 x 7-inch SS 5-spoke wheel of 1969 and 1970 was replaced by a 15 x 7 wide-spoke wheel that wore a dark gray finish and bright trim ring and was shared with the new Camaro.
The interior was virtually unchanged save for new patterns on the Madrid grain vinyl seats, which featured Elk grain center inserts. In 1972, exterior changes to the Sport Coupe and convertible were limited to a widened grille that reached the thinner headlamp bezels, single-unit turn wraparound signals and a short piece of door-rub strip molding. Although the Chevelle family of cars was one of Chevrolet's best sellers in the early 1970s, the hairy and expensive Super Sport 454s were understandably rare. A mere 3,733 were built in 1970; 19,992 left dealer lots in 1971; and in 1972, 5,333 were sold. Because these are among the hottest muscle cars ever built and, depending on engine and options, can command serious money, some nefarious folks have built SS 454 clones with matching forged documents, cowl tags and protect-o-plates; every effort should be made to authenticate LS6-equipped cars.
Engines:
What really makes a Chevelle SS 454 special? Need we ask-the engines! In 1970, this model could be fitted with one of two 454-cu.in. (7.4-liter!) V-8s. Buyers who chose code RPO LS5 got the "basic" engine, if a 360hp V-8 could be called that. The LS5, which featured a new, larger combustion chamber design, used the same cast-iron heads as the SS 396's 350hp engine; with hydraulic valve lifters, a 4.25 x 4.00 bore and stroke, a 10.25:1 compression ratio, 4-bbl. Rochester 4MV carburetor and dual exhausts, the LS5 made the aforementioned 360hp at 4,400 rpm and 500 lbs.-ft. of torque at 3,200 rpm. The holy grail of Chevelle engines in 1970 was certainly RPO LS6; this V-8 shared its bore and stroke with the LS5, but upped the ante with unique heads that used 1.88-inch exhaust valves and 2.19-inch intake valves, solid valve lifters, a high-performance camshaft, 11.25 compression and a 4-bbl. Holley 4557 or 4150 carburetor. It made an underrated 450hp at 5,600 rpm and 500 lbs.-ft. of torque at 3,600 rpm, some of the most impressive numbers in the industry, but its solid lifters made it more maintenance intensive than its hydraulic lifter-equipped brethren.

The Škoda Octavia is a small family car (C-segment in Europe) produced by Czech automaker Škoda Auto since 1996. Its name is revived from a model originally produced between 1959 and 1971. The current Octavia is available in five-door liftback and station wagon models.
The car is based on a Volkswagen Group platform shared with the Volkswagen Jetta. There have been two generations of the Octavia model to date. A high performance version, the RS or vRS is also available.
First generation
The first generation Octavia was released in November 1996 and was built at the modernized Škoda factory in Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic. In the United Kingdom, sales began in 1998 and the mid-size car was an instant success with buyers who appreciated its solidity, refinement and value for money, though it could not quite match the success of established large family car favourites such as the Ford Mondeo and Vauxhall Vectra. The car was widely used in the UK taxi trade, due the large number of private hire drivers who used the vehicle due to its low price, space and reliability.
The first generation Octavia had a facelift in 2000, and was still manufactured and marketed in some markets, even after the second generation was introduced in 2004. In Germany, and other parts of West Europe, as well as Asia, the first generation model was marketed as the Octavia Tour, while the newer model is marketed as the Octavia. In some markets, the first generation Octavia was still known as Octavia, and the newer model was referred to as the new Octavia, Octavia5 (Greece) or Laura (India).
The major improvements of the facelifted model are the independent rear suspension and improved interior, in terms of space, design and quality of materials.
The facelifted Octavia featured a 4x4 wheel drive version both for the estate and more popular liftback models, and used the Haldex Traction clutch, like other Volkswagen Group A platform based cars (Golf IV, Audi A3 and Seat Leon Cupra R4). It had higher ground clearance and a bigger fuel tank carrying 63-litre (17 US gal; 14 imp gal) compared to the 55-litre (15 US gal; 12 imp gal) standard front wheel drive versions. The 4x4 option was only available with the 1.8 T 150 bhp (112 kW; 152 PS) petrol engine, the 1.9 TDI 90 bhp (67 kW; 91 PS) diesel engine, or the 2.0 L petrol engine, all coupled with a 5-speed manual gearbox, and with the 1.9 TDI-PD (Pumpe-Düse) 100 bhp (75 kW; 101 PS) diesel engine which came with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
The other 6-speed manual model was the 1.9 TDI-PD 131 bhp (98 kW; 133 PS), only available with front-wheel-drive.
The vRS was the top-level and quickest specification and used a 1.8-litre straight-4 turbocharged engine which produced 180 bhp (134 kW; 182 PS). Škoda made a limited number of 100 WRC Replica Cars worldwide in 2002. These differ from normal vRS Octavias, as they are produced in white, have rally decals and have additional accessories as standard (such as ESP, xenon lights, heated front seats). The vRS model was also popular with the UK police, both as a traffic car and as an unmarked Q-car, due to its low cost, reliability, performance, and understated styling.
Second generation
The second generation Octavia was introduced in March 2004, based on the Volkswagen Group A5 (PQ35) platform also used by other Volkswagen Group cars, such as the Audi A3 Mk2, Volkswagen Golf Mk5, Volkswagen Jetta Mk5, SEAT León Mk2, etc.
Responsible for the design were Thomas Ingenlath and Peter Wouda. Along with a new internal combustion engine range, also shared with other models of the Volkswagen Group, body changes included more legroom for rear seat passengers (a weak point in the original model) and increased ground clearance at front and rear to reduce the risk of grounding on steep ramps or facing kerbs.
In addition to the Czech factories in Mladá Boleslav and Vrchlabi, from 2008 the Octavia has also been produced at a factory in Bratislava, Slovakia, and in Shanghai, China, under the joint venture of Shanghai Volkswagen.
Skoda Octavia Combi 4x4
The Škoda Octavia Combi 4x4 continues Škoda's tradition of four-wheel drive cars. It provides an exceptional combination of comfort, power, safety and steering control even in poor road conditions.
Škoda Auto has applied its new model strategy with the Škoda Octavia Combi 4x4. The unique character of the Škoda Octavia Combi 4x4 is further enhanced by the fact that it now stands as a separate model in addition to the range of three equipment specifications of the Škoda Octavia cars. The standard equipment on all Škoda Octavia Combi 4x4 cars includes, among other things, the following items:
The sophisticated design of the 4x4 drive assembly has not decreased the luggage compartment of the Škoda Octavia Combi which is an exceptional 580 litres that can be increased up to 1,620 litres with the rear seats folded.
The range of engines supplied with the Škoda Octavia Combi 4x4 includes one petrol and one diesel engine. Customers preferring economical operation will choose the flexible and economical 1.9 TDI-PD/77 kW diesel engine. Customers who want something more dynamic will be pleased with the powerful new 2.0 FSI/110 kW petrol engine with direct fuel injection. Both engines come with manual six-gear transmission.
The chassis design remains the same as the rest of the Škoda Octavia model range. The front axle with McPherson struts and the multi-element rear axle combined with four-wheel drive provide excellent driving characteristics and a high level of active safety. The rear axle drive uses a similar solution to that of the current model with a Haldex electronically-controlled multi-disc clutch. This proven concept allows the rear axle drive to be connected quickly and reliably whenever needed. Another advantage of the 4x4 model is a slightly increased fuel tank with a capacity of 60 litres.

Opel Monza
OPEL Monza 3.0 V6 (1983 - 1987) Description & History: The Monza coupe was a short-lived well-designed vehicle that also sold as a Chevrolet and inspired the Manta bodyshell. Launched with a choice of one petrol engine, the Monza was a fast, streamlined ride. The 6 cylinder 2.5 Liter power unit pushed the car to a top speed of 126 mph and developed 205 Nm of torque. Despite the balanced specs of the car and overall good performance, acceleration was not among Monza's best traits, taking the car over 10 seconds to go from 0 to 62.

Lada XRAY
Lada XRAY is a concept car by AvtoVAZ. It was presented in August 2012 during the Moscow International Automobile Salon. It is designed by Steve Mattin.
When is the last time you watched five minutes of video on a Lada that didn't involve dual power windows, fires or Fifth Gear? Don't feel bad if the answer is, "What's Russian for 'never'?", but now's a good time to change that. Lada wants the world to know that it's no longer the old Lada, revealing its very brown and rather sleek XRay concept at the Moscow Motor Show, and it didn't stop at taking a mound of photos in order to show it off. Penned by the brand's Milan-based design team – which is headed by Steve Mattin, an alumnus of Mercedes-Benz and Volvo – the XRay is a sign of both Lada's aspirations and the design language we should eventually see on its production cars. You can get a closer look at it in the two videos below.

2012 Volkswagen Passat
One of the most highly anticipated world premieres of the 2011 NAIAS, the new U.S. market 2012 Volkswagen Passat, turned out to be one of the less exciting -at least in terms of design- introductions of the show. The US-built replacement for the European-sourced Passat literally looks like an extra-large Jetta, which drew its own share of criticism for its uninspired and generic looks. For comparison, we've added a few shots of the Jetta after the jump.
While the design may not be engaging, the car's lower sticker prices will certainly attract more buyers as the new Passat will start from around $20,000 or some $7,000 to $8,000 less than the 2011MY it replaces. However, keep in mind that while the base 2011 Passat was offered with a modern 200HP 2.0 TFSI, the entry-level 2012MY Passat will come with VW's old 2.5-liter five-cylinder unit rated at 170HP. Other engine options for U.S. buyers include a more frugal 140HP 2.0-liter turbo diesel that returns up to 43mpg, and a range topping 3.6-liter VR6 with 280HP and a 0-60mph sprint time of 6.5 seconds. Volkswagen will manufacture the 2012 Passat at its new $1 billion Chattanooga factory in Tennessee, the automaker's first U.S. assembly plant since it shut down its Pennsylvania plant in 1988. The mid-size saloon will go on sale in the States in mid-August. carscoop.blogspot.com

Born in the USA: 2012 VW Passat, Previously known as NMS
Volkswagen has finally lifted the covers of its New Midsize Sedan [NMS], and it's name is... Passat. In other words, the Wolfsburg-based carmaker chose to retain the Passat name for its new mid size sedan model, which has been specifically developed for the North American market and will be built at the firm's new US plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The four-door saloon model will be launched in the States in mid-August with an entry-level price in the US$20,000 range, according to the company. Final prices will be announced in March."There is hardly any other saloon of this size (exactly 191.7 inches or 4,868 mm long) that offers such high technology and quality at a comparable price," said Volkswagen in a statement. As previously mentioned, the new, U.S. market Passat has a length of 191.7 inches (4,868 mm). Its wheelbase is 110.4 inches (2,803 mm) and its width is 72.2 inches (1,835 mm), meaning its size has increased in all three dimensions compared to the previous model. This should translate to increased passenger space over the same-name model it replaces.
The sedan's exterior styling draws its inspiration from the recently launched Jetta, and not from the refreshed, European market, Passat - not that there's a huge difference... Not surprisingly, the interior also looks similar to the Jetta, albeit with more upscale trim. According to the German automaker, the car’s technology and styling came from Germany, while Volkswagen of America provided the conceptual direction. Talking about technology (or the lack it...), the entry-level Passat will be offered in the States with VW's familiar 2.5-liter five-cylinder motor producing 170-horsepower, while returning an estimated 31mpg on the highway. Other engine options will include a more frugal Clean Diesel (TDI) with 140HP and a highway fuel economy of 43mpg, and a six-cylinder petrol engine, the 3.6-liter VR6 with 280-horsepower, which is paired with a standard dual clutch transmission (DSG), returning 28mpg on the highway and completing the 0-60mph sprint in 6.5 seconds.
Buyers in the U.S. will have a choice of three equipment lines: S, SE and SEL. The base version will come equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system, ESP, ABS with braking assistant, Hill Climb Assist (with manual transmission and DSG), and six airbags Other standard features include electric windows all round, air conditioning, insulating glass, an analogue clock in the center of the instrument panel, cruise control, outside temperature display with frost warning, radio-CD system (MP3-capable, plus external audio input) and a Bluetooth hands-free mobile phone system (with voice activation). carscoop.blogspot.com
